Idea for a film
A small, oppressive one party state is playing host to a heavily stage managed visit by an international celebrity. Due to a cock up a repairman is mistaken for the official translator and made to translate for the dignitary in a television interview. One of the production staff realises that the 'translator' doesn't know what he's doing and is just making everything up. She is a member of the underground resistance and she persuades the 'translator' to help them. When the celebrity gives a speech at a rally, the 'translator' instead delivers a speech written by the rebels, inciting a riot. Unfortunately this now means that the secret police are after the celebrity and the 'translator' must keep them safe, which is made harder by the fact that he can't understand what they're saying and they have no idea what's going on.
